When you listen to your favorite tunes, “feel good” transmitters such as dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine are released, which make you feel happier and more relaxed.[1]
It’s no wonder music is a powerful motivator that fuels various parts of our lives.
In particular, worship music is the genre I crave—especially as I hammer away on my laptop, leading and building the business God has graciously left in my care.
Now I can’t listen to any lyrics while I write. I tend to focus on the words of the song instead of the words that should be flowing through my fingers onto the screen.
However, during many other moments of my work day, I need an uplifting, spiritual reminder that God has my back in ALL situations. No. Matter. What.
As leaders and entrepreneurs, we deal with problems, challenges and tough decisions every day. Welcome to the battlefield of business.
Worship music, as depicted in Psalm 57:7, keeps our hearts steadfast toward God. With our faith firmly fixed in place. Our immovable gaze directed toward The Cross—regardless of the fleeting issue we face in the moment.
Since becoming a disciple of Jesus, no other type of music can provide the meaning, the purpose, the peace I receive through lyrical communion with God.
I will always enjoy my 90’s alternative mix from high school. Nirvana and Green Day never fail to serenade me with a hefty dose of teenage nostalgia.
It’s an experience I will appreciate till I’m either deaf or called to Heaven.
